“I contacted Laurel slightly over a year ago when I felt the sudden urge to convert a patch of my backyard to a native meadow. From the outset, she was very easy to work with. She is busy, so our first appointment was set a couple of months after we first spoke. But once we met, things moved quickly. She is very professional and responsive. She places a high value on timeliness and is very very easy to work with. Her design, plant selection is top notch.

Also, I have to mention her wonderful team, which comprised of very passionate gardeners themselves - Sarah of 'Field to Cottage Nursery', Tom Mekus of 'Native Elements' to name a few. They did a great job on the installation of the beds and planting the hundreds of plants that make up the meadow.

The work was done in Fall, and this spring, although it is only the first year, we had a beautiful meadow. It is everything we hoped it would be! The number of wasps, butterflies, bees and bugs of all shapes and sizes, and then the birds to complement them, make us very happy. The beauty of the meadow will only grow.

Laurel has also been great at answering any questions I have even now. That is a huge help :)

A big thanks to Laurel and the whole team!”

“In summary, working with Laurel is one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life.

I bought a home a couple years ago that desperately needed landscape assistance -- some of it previously landscaped, most of it in a "natural" state (wooded, but inundated with invasive species), with a stream running through it that adds a layer of substantial complication due to regulatory requirements for maintaining vegetation along the buffer of the stream (and the kind of vegetation matters). Landscaping with native plants was of primary importance to me - lower maintenance, less water intensive, better for pollinators, wildlife, and the environment generally. Win-win-win... I didn't begin to have the knowledge however, to achieve my vision. Enter Laurel.

Laurel's knowledge of plants is incredible -- both native and non-native. I'm amazed at her ability to glance at any plant and identify it every time we walk my extensively vegetated natural area. Her expertise is unquestionable, but she also has a gorgeous eye for design. My project is large and ongoing, but we have finished much of the front, and I can't tell you the countless times neighbors have stopped by my front yard to admire Laurel's work. Something is always flowering, which is a joy. We've also installed a woodland garden in my backyard and a pollinator garden on the side -- my first Monarch caterpillar appeared a few weeks ago and it was a moment of sheer happiness. She's also incorporated edible landscaping features (fruiting bushes and trees). And she's not just a plant designer, she's worked on incorporating hardscaping design, meandering stone paths, dry riverbeds, and rain gardens through my plantings.

Laurel has seemingly boundless energy and will work tirelessly to create your paradise. On the front end of the project she thoroughly explored my preferences for color and style, then she created my plan. The plan is her starting point -- she gave me every opportunity to tweak as desired -- but it was so on the mark, I had little to change. After plan finalization, she's open to using your contractor of choice to perform installation, or she has a bevy of contractors she will connect you with (for hardscaping, plant installation and ongoing maintenance, unwanted vegetation removal, irrigation, etc.). And, not just connect, for me she has coordinated a variety of contractor work to implement the various pieces of the plan - leaving everything in her uber capable hands has made the process so easy.

Finally, given the size and scope of my project, I've been working with Laurel for about a year now and I will tell you she's honest, totally reliable, always punctual, and just a delightful person. I could go on and on, but as I may be writing the longest review ever, I will end by saying that Laurel is a jewel.”

“I have been experimenting with native plants, colors and foodscaping, but I don’t have Laurel’s experience with where, when and how to plant to get the best result. Laurel spent time walking around the yard, measuring, talking to me about light and shade, water and soil composition, then started sketching. She helped me select plants and know where to put them, and now I’m planting, replanting and moving things around. Even at this stage, I am loving the results. Laurel’s knowledge and experience are matched only by her gentle acceptance of whatever yard-mess you’re starting with and her excitement seeing your vision become reality. You will love working with Laurel, and you will enjoy your garden like you only dreamed you would.”

“When I initially approached Laurel asking for help with my flower beds, she asked a variety of questions including how much upkeep I was able to commit to (not much). She never once made me feel bad about the current state of my gardens and came back to me with a very detailed drawing of her plans along with many options for implementation. She designed an all-season garden so that my space would look beautiful and well kept all year round. I love how knowledgeable Laurel is. She understands that I am in a busy season of life and helped to create a beautiful garden that I am proud of!”

“Laurel came to help us transform our very boring placed-by-builder landscape into a beautiful garden. Laurel was attentive and open to our needs as “lazy non-gardeners” who want a garden :) ! She helped us select an array of foliage and plants that are easy to maintain but also beautiful. Her eye for design is impeccable and she created a wonderful plan that seemingly integrated our vision with various textures and colors. Aside from her superb professional skills, Laurel’s down-to-earth personality was evident as soon as we connected which made the whole process all the more enjoyable. You can’t go wrong with Laurel. Make the call!

“We would definitely recommend Laurel if you need help with landscape design. We had a large area in our yard that received way too much water from gutter drainage, so every year our grass would die. We finally gave up on grass and hired Laurel to help design an area with plants that would survive in such a wet area. Laurel was very knowledgeable about plants and offered great suggestions on plants that would survive in that area. She put together two designs to choose from and we couldn't be happier with the results. We now have a vibrant natural area with beautiful plants that turned an ugly area to a beautiful area.”
